I sometimes think prey drive is misunderstood and mis-utilized. Because dogs prey drive is usually channeled toward the sleeve, people tend to believe it is play and not real. Ask a gazelle if the lion that is in the process of killing him if prey drive is real? Understand though I am talking about serious prey drive. Not play drive. They mimic each other, but are not the same thing.  I will try to post a video of a young police dog in training. It is kind of long, because the dog runs a short track before he finds me. If you want to skip ahead to the bite work, to see my point feel free. In this video, I feel that the dog is in prey through must of the work. But there is little doubt that it is real and I am the focus of that prey. I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you Bobo70. My nickname as an adult for years has been Bobdog, because of my love of dogs. When I was a little boy, a friend of the family took to calling me Bobo for the same reason. lol

Multumesc Bobo70.

That link did not work for me.  I don't think I've seen this, Bob.  The last time I saw that video was made was the work that Tyson did with Roscoe at the units...
I want to see this.  When I hit the link it goes to MY photobucket account. lol

Lol! How are you, Roger? It might be because you might be logged in to your photobucket account? Though I am not sure. I clicked on it on this forum, and it took me to the right video. I will send it to your email.

hello Bob, thanks for answering my question..i understand what you talk about...the dog fights with you, and then you are "almost dead", and the dog just looks at you...when the dog is more calm is easyer to call him back i imagine
i see this session is like fighting--relaxing--fighting again

does the biting session ever finish with you running away..or you always need to "die"? :)

that sleeve is really hidden i must say:)

Kangdanlin.
No, I don't feel like it has to end with the decoy always dying. This is more in the beginning, or when the dog needs a boost of confidence. I do end often with the decoy running off. Like if I think the dog needs more frustration to help with his desire/drive. In scenario and or control work, the decoy may stay on his feet. just like dogs who had the sleeve slipped to them in early work don't always have the sleeve slipped to them. As the work advances, sometimes they have to out, sleeve intact.

Learn something new every day. lol   I am automatically signed in to my photobucket account, doesn't matter who else's photobucket link I hit, it goes to my account.  So I signed out and watched it.

I know that police dogs have to be trained to hold one bite (for the most part) to avoid departmental liability from lawsuits....  however, I'm still gonna buy you a football helmet and mask.  lol    Remember when Riker almost got Jay's face?
