welcome back, Ron
well.. I guess people have different values when it comes to dogs, to some, conformation show is IT.. still, it always makes me laugh when I read a question like that, especially when so many question marks follow (literally)
You mentioned Axa - just to say, Axa was granted top marks in conformation, by German judge - this is the event

I will try and find the complete video and will post it here)

Well I agree with Dani. There are so many working dogs has good conformation. As you've said, it should fit what's according to the breed survey.

Ron

Actually the dog looks darn good to me
Well, i guess Leo has to show his dogs, locals need to learn of his presence ;)

Yeah. Such away those people new to German Shepherd knew what's the breed standard.

here you go, sir ;)  please note Axa's presence (head up, eyes on Dux) as opposed to the more classic 'show ring run'  (also minute 0:45 - 0:52)

I estimate Goku will have a somewhat straighter back than Axa's due to his sire's "oldschool" build. But if Roger had a mindset similar to mine, the back "look" wouldn't make a top concern.. or else I'm in the wrong forum here

Straight firm back with deep chest and broad skull and thick muzzle, with dark eyes is my own personal standard, which some of you guys might also agree with. Titus and Held is the top of the top for looks, and well my own dog Casso is a close second place

Nice   :bravo:
What I am trying to underline though is, I would want my dog to look as described in the breed survey, not WIN conformation shows, for all I care conformation shows was what pulled the breed down anyway.
 ;)

Awesome Leo! Since when you started showing your dogs?

Thanks for the comments my friends!
My friend, Mat Egan (that posted that comment about the straight back on FB) was being sarcastic and funny.  He has been working dogs for 20 years and loves a straight back GSD, and can't stand a deformed GSD.    Leo, anyone is welcome on my thread! lol     Your dogs look great!

Goku has been shooting straight up, getting his height and length.  He has 2 years or more to fill out, I think he will be a hoss.

Roger, i got a feeling you will post some fine looking images of Goku, in one year from now. I will look hard on my external HDD and try and find some pictures of Axa when she was about Goku's current age. You will see how dramatically she changed in the course of time. I'm not saying this because you got Goku from me, anyone who knows me would also know that, I am just saying I am noticing some development particularities in Goku that I also saw in Axa.

I have no doubt when he fills this huge frame he is getting (which is still growing) he is going to be a very beautiful animal.

Goku looks very nice! He has plenty time to develop and he's still very young, as far as I know, males tend to develop until around the age of 2 years, maybe even more, in some cases. I believe he will be a very good looking male!

I can't find them.. I think I deleted them cause I really disliked Axa's looks at that specific point in time lol
