Hello everyone my name is JD, I love and breed the DDR dogs in the US. I have enjoyed very much reading through the wonderful advice and opinions on the old bloodlines, Thanks for that! I wanted to share with you my two cents on vaccinations or more accurately over vaccinations.
I have owned dogs all my life and many of them. I have also rescued quite a few thru out the years who where infected with everything. Almost none of my dogs have been vaccinated past 6 months and some past 3 months for parvo and distemper. I have always had a suspicion that there is a correlation to high vaccination and cancer and other risks, so I have stayed far away from them past the puppy stage. Beginning with my next addition to my breeding program I am not going to vaccinate at all, instead Im going to test for the antibodies of protection and monitor them vaccinating only if necessary.
Beside's my belief in the possible cancer correlation Im learning that there is a possible link to the distemper shot and pano. So less has been very good to me and now I will try none.
Below is just one of the articles showing annual vacc are not necessary and in fact may be harmful. Look forward to any other wierdos like me to comment or to counter.

A challenge-of-immunity study was conducted to demonstrate immunity in dogs 3 years after their second vaccination with a new multivalent, modified-live vaccine containing canine adenovirus type 2 (CAV-2), canine parvovirus (CPV), and canine distemper virus (CDV). Twenty-three seronegative pups were vaccinated at 7 and 11 weeks of age. Eighteen seronegative pups, randomized into groups of six dogs, served as challenge controls. Dogs were kept in strict isolation for 3 years following the vaccination and then challenged sequentially with virulent canine adenovirus type 1 (CAV-1), CPV, and CDV. For each viral challenge, a separate group of six control dogs was also challenged. Clinical signs of CAV-1, CPV, and CDV infections were prevented in 100% of vaccinated dogs, demonstrating that the multivalent, modified-live test vaccine provided protection against virulent CAV-1, CPV, and CDV challenge in dogs 7 weeks of age or older for a minimum of 3 years following second vaccination.
By failing to make a statement of the known science, by failing to require longer DOI data from manufacturers, and by failing to remove one-year vaccines from the market, the VMD is facilitating the unethical practice of annual vaccination.

As vrea sa impartasesc cu voi niste ganduri personale despre vaccinari.
Am avut caini cam toata viata mea, multi.
