Alea erau fetele, sa postez si baietii. Masculul pe care il urmaresc cu obiectivul mi-a intrat la inima si daca as avea conditiile necesare l-as fi tinut pt mine. Dar va ajunge oricum pe maini bune!

hmm.. ma "mananca" sa fac o completare/adaugire..

hmmm.. I just have to add something to what I've already said..
Don't think that, just because it's a black n tan dog, it will be a good dog, have a look at the pictures of old school dogs John laTore posted on Facebook and you will note there are plenty sable and solid blacks. Most of the ones we had or still have in the country yes were black n tan, some solid blacks and very few sables. But first and foremost you need to consider the temperament and only then the rest. Sometimes one gets so attached to one aspect that overlooks other aspects. I don't want to make a big deal out of all this  but I am just aware that there are visitors passing by looking for info on GSD's.
I will keep it short and say - temperament first, then the rest.

It does not translate correctly. But I have to disagree with you. Let just say  as a point you want to just save the working dog diversity is more then temperament, drive, size
pigment is very important as well. If you did not also save and consider pigment you would  have a majority of dogs with very poor pigment. Today we have more sable dogs because no one gave this much consideration. So look at most of the dogs you see today the true dark pigment is far less. To me this is a very important part of the breeding and keeping of the German Shepherd dogs.

John it's possible that we are talking about different things here. What I am saying is, the black n tan look should not speak louder than the actual whole package that the GS dog breed represents. We got the diversity in colors and that's good BUT there should be no "diversity" when it comes to temperament. I mean, look at what the SV did to the breed, we got black n red (not even tan) dogs with crappy temperaments. I am not saying color or pigment is not important, after all, these things (temperament, bone structure, pigment, overall looks etc) are all coming under one "logo", the German Shepherd dog.
Further more, I actually believe some took this "sable dogs are better working dogs" to an extreme and the root of it was and is money. In Romania, quite a few so-called breeders sell sable GS pups claiming to be "working line" pups JUST because they are sable.
So the point I was trying to make was and is, we got variety when it comes to looks, but let's not play around when it comes to temperament. I can totally understand what Axx was saying, after all, I am a great fan of the classic black n tan GS dog but nevertheless, I believe it is important that we do not state that black n tan GS dogs are good by default; we need to teach those interested in the breed, to consider the whole package.
I hope my English is good enough to make the point..

Yes i understand the show dog is pretty much breed just for looks. But you have to look also that many dogs are bred for sport today and they are pretty much bred for the extreme drive. Seems to me people lost of the real perception of the GSD and how to keep it.

John that is right but again, what I am saying is, a black n tan GS dog is not by default a good dog. I mean, I too want a black n tan dog by my side but I look around at the rather recent dogs and I have no choice but to pay close attention to temperament. I believe that's the first element that drew the breed to a dangerous stage. These German Shepherd dogs are beautiful animals and many have focused on the aspect but ignored temperament. I believe nowadays they use the term "balanced temperament" to excuse dogs that are rather soft.
If or when it comes down to looks, if I had to chose between Held Ritterberg and Tom z PS, I would go for the first one. That is to say again, I too prefer a black n tan dog.

Dani
I know what you are saying but I think what ruined the GSD was the Pet Trade
The SV and promotion of the show lines did have an impact. But the pet trade meant to eliminate most natural traits of the GSD so families can keep the dog in the home.

I do understand your choice of temperament and that is your choice as a breeder. I have a different way of looking at things and to me temperament is only one piece of the breeding puzzle. This does not mean you are wrong or right, we all have and make
choices. Breeding is not always instant results history has shown breeders have spent a life time on there commitments.
