if the DDR breeding programme was utilised to its full potential..!
You know, I was thinking...
One could say "the DDR dogs are crap, stop blaming things on people not knowing how to breed them" and so what i do next, I look at West dogs; the fault ratio seems lower, much lower and then it hits me - that's actually because issues are well covered/hidden by tons of prey drive. Apart form some Yoschi and Troll dogs, I see many, many problems in West dogs. I am not putting them all in one big pot, but reality speaks throughout the years. So I guess the answer is the one John always gives, it's all to do with genetics!! Every now and again terrific pups spring out form a no-name breeding and one could say "oh, it's the dog in front of you".. but if it was like that, then it would be ever so easy to produce good dogs, with pin point precision, wouldn't it..
I think the good looks of a typical east GS dog are to blame for the current state, as people with an eye for looks got their hands on them and produced looks out of them and only that.
