Love these classic photo's you post John, very rare and unique type of 'old school dogs'..
Bodo litter sister Bella Rozen.. came into Australia a while back as you guys probaly know, she passed on the thick bones and blocky heads.. Even after a few generations there are few which to this day have incredible DDR look about them, but unfortunatley nothing in terms of tough workability which DDR type were known to have back in the day...
The 1 mentioned with the Army guys, has really wide front feet and thats the type from Bella Rozen..are like.

I checked the Vom Sirius website, some nice blocky old style looks indeed. I see they got some of their dogs from Vonforell.
I also had a look at this Drago dog http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=624708 his grandma is Bella. I wish I could see some videos of these dogs, looking good in still images but can't really tell how good or hard workers they are.
I wish there were a more recent picture of V Sirius Alpha.
