Influence on pups (Influenta asupra puilor)
« on: December 14, 2010, 09:09:54 AM »
The breeder of my dogs mentioned something i found interesting..
The Sire of Casso (Maxx) is 11 years old and he believes that because of his age and (old age) maturity the pups pick up this type of character..
On the contrary if you have a juvenile Sire, the pups pick up on other traits.. I found this theory or what you would like to call it interesting, as i have not heard or read something like this in regards to the Sire.. The character of the Dam we have heard or read, but nothing has been mentioned about the Sire as far as i recall..
Well i gotta pretty cool relaxed dog, hope he's not to relaxed in time of need..! :(

The suggestion that a very well matured Sire, has an influence good or bad is something to think about IMO..
The majority of  bred pups do not get to experience a true family pack where the Sire is present to have influence, once again good and bad i feel..
If there is some truth, that the Dam should be relaxed which will benefit the pups in the long term, then i dont see why the Sire would not have some influence/impact on the early development of pups.. The Bio Sensor system apperantly seems to benefit early development, and this was introduced by Man..!
So in saying this i dont see Man having a greater influence, compared to what natue has to offer...!

Interesting but how many breeders actually keep the Sire and Dam together with the pups? I also believe to some degree the Sire would have a huge impact on the pups especially if we look at Wolves in the wild who i believe stick together both Sire and Dam with the pups in a pack.

Presuming you have been breeding dogs for some time now (?) is that where your thoughts come from..?
It is an interesting topic indeed, when I get some time I will translate what's being said so more could join the talks.

I personally have not bred dogs myself, but have been directly and/or indirectly involved and mixed with breeders, trainers for the last 20++ years..
These 'old school breeders' have 100++ years of combined knowledge and experience with the bloodlines we have chosen..
I believe that most dogs have missed out on a true family pack, where the Sire can contribute many positves.
For example the pup can figure out who really is the 'ALPHA BOSS' and what 'to do' and 'not to do'.. This has helped me i feel, as Casso knows his position in his new family, and probally thinks i'm a bit like his Sire Mad Maxx  1grr..
Casso was taken out from his family pack at the age of 13-14 weeks, so he would of had many differant experiences 24/7 days a week with Mad Maxx being around...!
Where there is a positive there must be a negative i feel, and an example if i can suggest would be that the young pup is bitten and scarred by a Crazy dominant Male..
Am sure we can think of many positives and negatives in regards to being part of a complete family environment..
