Muzzle work

What would be the best method to introduce a muzzle to a young dog, and is there a certain age before it should be introduced ?

care e cea mai buna cale de a invata un caine tanar cu botnita, a se face asta doar incepand cu o anumita varsta?

well i think when the young dog's muzzle reaches anything close to adult size.. say 6 or 7 months maybe, to start with, will not be too early to get acquainted to a muzzle. I would personally let the dog sniff it, just get a little bit familiarized with it before actually putting it on. I do that in the yard, where the dog can crawl and try its best to get it off and once it calms down, i start taking it out for walks with the muzzle on (this will not happen in one single day), so i guess I am talking about 2 stages... a few days of having the muzzle on in the yard, then eventually keeping it on for walks in public places. As with everything else, I guess it all goes in stages, not at once.
That's how i do it...  :)

Thats similar to what i had in mind also, where an introduction should be in phases, and getting it to a stage where its used for walks and so.....
Was also thinking that once the dog 'stops' trying to take it OFF, that the length of time can be extended, would that be OK and not to have a negative effect in the introduction phase ? Have no experience in muzzle training a dog and would like to apply the correct method with Casso, as am keen in the near future for this kind of work with him... Any other positive methods you guys can mention in regards to muzzle training ?
Am sure Santos has a few effective ways about it...! :) [/color]

my Greif is already used to the muzzle...i started by puting some food inside...then i let it for some seconds on him, with lots of praise...and then we went for a walk

Thanks Kangdalnin for that, sounds like an effective way with food treats... Generally i dont use food as a reward, i prefer lots of praise with a distinctive tone of voice which works pretty good... At the moment there have been several sessions of placing the muzzle on Casso, and at this stage have it on for
5 minutes and want to extend it to 30 min in the next 2 weeks..
Is leaving it 30 minutes too long for a 5 month old pup ?
