Just some of his basic philosophies. I have read a lot of his editorials. I have aways been intrigued by Baden k9? I would like to delve into his working service training further.

This is a DDR being tested by a friend of mine and Bob's, Jay Raw.  Jay has worked my dogs before and called today to say he will be working them again while Bob is gone.   So, maybe next week I will see about some videos of them working.

The owner of this dog wanted Jay to TEST his dog, not work him or train him.  He lives in a very dangerous place and wanted to know for sure if his DDR dog would protect him if things get rough.  Very nice dog.

From what i see the dog works more in prey instinct than reality, maybe i am wrong but a reality dog behaves differently. Maybe he can do another test with the dog without the bite suit and he shouldn't agitate the dog before, and then put the muzzle and release him on the attacker. If he will behave the same way then he will attack also in a real situation. It's important not to agitate the dog by the helper before the attack command.

He tested this dog many different ways, this was all the dog owner's family videotaped. The dog is in Kansas City, we are in Texas, he won't be going back. I think he said the dog had bitten before (real situation) but had not been tested hard.

A testat cainele in multe feluri, asta este tot ceea ce a filmat familia.Cainele este in Kansas, noi suntem in Texas, n-avem cum sa refacem filmarea.

Really enjoyed the video, this dog has heaps of courage and cleverly works,i would be more than happy if he was mine Roger.
Santos without aggitating the dog is this purely for an indication of its raw behaviour.
I ask this as IMO a RAW untrained socially aggressive dog has one vision and thats to fight and win, he will bite on natural reaction with plenty of dominance..

I didn't said that the dog is not courageous but I don't know if he will attack in a real situation. I believe this because of his reaction during and at interruption of the attack. Any dog with prey instinct developed with very much training can get real bite if the leash is on but if he is free I'm sure he will not attack. The reaction of a guard dog is different...
In my training school we have trained over 2000 dogs and I had the opportunity to see many types of dogs and only 5% of guard and defense breeds are true.
That's why I said we should see the dog in a real situation, that is, to put him a muzzle and give it to someone but not agitate him. As I understand, the person really wants to see whether could based on the dog if it's attacked. Any dog trained on a suit or sleeve and training directed at issues that were can behave in this way but in a real situation is quite different and can have surprises.

Thanks MS, I am going to find out more about this DDR dog.  Jay has been all over the world testing dogs, and if he says this dog is a real dog, that is exactly what he is.  As you know, there are few GSDs (comparitively) that are "real."

I'm not saying that the dog from the clip is not for "real" but I can't tell that from the testing. About Fax Wegas Saga, Leo's dog, I can say that he can bite real because he made the muzzle attack and I saw the determination that wanna bites. If the owner of the dog want to see if he can reliance on him in real situations he can make the test without the help of a trainer or believe what I say. He can put the dog a muzzle and simulate that someone is attacking him, without formerly agitating the dog . If the dog attacks with determination than he can use him for protection, if not, he can search for another dog.

Santos, I think I agree with what you are saying mostly, if you are saying that an attack on a passive decoy could be a better test than a dog being agitated first and then sent.   But the first advice was to make a dog hate the decoy to make them bite well, and I also think that was good advice.   However, in a test, not training, it gets confusing.   Are you saying that an untrained dog should attack someone that isn't being aggressive before it would be considered a real dog?   Cause I would disagree with that.

I have seen PSA trials where dogs are required to attack passive (non-agitating) decoys, but some if not most of those dogs were trained in baby steps to do so.    So I can show video of a dog doing an attack on a passive decoy in muzzle, but it might not mean anything (that it is a real dog) if it was trained to do so in small steps and the man isn't fighting him.   I think more than the tests itself, to determine whether a dog is "Real" or not takes the observation of an expert such as yourself, Bob and Jay and others who actually are working the dog in whatever test.   It's not always clearly visible (maybe not ever) in video clips, but it's the best we have to work with aside from explanations.

For me, if I have a dog that has never been tested or trained and he attacks someone for no reason, he will be a dead dog.  That is instability in my book.   However, if I train a dog up to follow my command no matter if the decoy is aggressive or not, he better do that, too, for a case in which someone might have a weapon and isn't overtly being aggressive.   We are probably on the same page but just having a lack of communication with each other.

Asta inseamna instabilitate in opinia mea. In orice caz, daca dresez un caine sa-mi urmeze comenzile indiferent daca infractorul este agresiv sau nu, ar face bine sa faca asa, pentru cazul in care cineva are o arma si nu este vizibil agresiv. Probabil avem aceleasi pareri insa nu reusim sa comunicam prea bine.

I am not arguing with you Santos, I was misunderstanding you.  Yes, I agree with this, I thought you meant an untested dog needed to be put in muzzle and SENT on a decoy who was not agitating him.
Sorry.
Yes, Jay did all kinds of testing (not videotaped) with this dog over the course of a couple of days, and they know what he is.  He is for real, even though he does not show it to your satisfaction on these two clips I have posted.  The owner is very happy with his dog, who has ALREADY protected him in the past.
