ohh.. I like them all
Westsachsen - they might have been one of the kennels shooting more for conformation, I am saying that because I see quite a few of the dogs they produced, being showed in the DDR (and later after the wall came down) sieger. Also excelling in looks, am thinking of Viktor when I say that.

But then, one is not to compare the DDR sieger with that of the west, since the DDR had a better judging system. Nevertheless, am sure the DDR had their own crappy dogs. In short, I guess the west Germans, in a short space of time, over angulated their show dogs and added loads of drive in the working dog (which overrides or affects other temperament elements) while the DDR dog remained closer to its original type.

Viktor has a definite sloping croup, but nothing which looks ridiculous in comparison to the west..

Observati cum isi marcheaza teritoriul aproape tot timpul.

just observing Hun's behavior here, but also from previous chats with John I remembered I got some footage from John of a dog that was very much like Hun. Unfortunately the dog was in the wrong hands for some time, hence his left ear, but note his structure, it's just insane, at least in my own view. I took the sound out out of respect for some people but they described the dog in the lines of "he is very brave, has no fear of other dogs or men, very dominant". The dog is grandson of Zorro and great-grandson of grand Ritterberg

hey John, looks like you're having a good day

If you keep posting pictures like this, Dux won't be able to sleep

Hey, by having Hun I am getting to know the DDR somewhat better.. I would think, of all possible "purposes", they would be best in PP; reason I am saying that - they are more calm and quite protective. So unless one would want to compete in sports, the DDR type would be IT, for PP.
I've been looking online for footage of DDR dogs at work and I have to say, a fairly big part of them are rather soft, i wish people knew better about bloodlines and good combinations..
