The DDR dogs population has dramatically shrunk and so it is so important that those who still want to breed these dogs put a lot of brain in the process so that they don't simply get pure DDR dogs, but rather pure DDR GOOD dogs. And I believe that is where wisdom from someone like John is much needed.
These days we see people selling / buying either extreme drive or looks and I personally believe that many who do that they do it not to promote the breed but to rather satisfy their own ego's and personal ambitions.
And as far as drive, although it has been said that the DDR dogs lack in it, you can actually still find video clips of east dogs that are doing pretty well as far as drive. I would personally not want extreme drive in my own dog, but enough to show me he/she is active, plus stability (solid nerves), so I could shoot for various crazy activities and he's up for it and of corse I want my dog to keep its ground when challenged by someone outside of the family. As I put things together, I realize I can find this mix of qualities in the DDR type of dog.
