Caini RDG (DDR dogs)

This topic is a delicate one and approached in international online message boards; what was / is the significance of the DDR dogs, what is going on in present time with the remaining population of such dogs, what makes them different to the west dogs. These differences are there to be noticed, we could analize them and draw some conclusions.
I made a video tribute to these dogs, posted below.

Cainii respectivi nu erau asa "tari" in drive, ei foloseau cainii in patrule nu in sport, prin urmare au promovat exemplarele cu oase puternice si cu instinct de aparare mai dezvoltat.

The DDR dogs are not that well known by many. Those dogs were not that high on drive, the east people used the dogs for patroling, not sports, so their breeding consisted of strong bones and good defense drive.

Hello All forum memebrs
Let me tell you about the ddr dogs. We have today both in Germany and USA Puppy sellers.I tell people who ask how do i know how to pick and pup and which breeder to buy from. First if the breeder has multiple litters at the same time this is not good.If they try to say take the puppy 6-7-8 weeks old this is not good. Why because you must spend time with the pups to watch and teach them it is big task with just one litter and how it done with 20-30 pups. The ddr breed lines all differ example the bloodline 5a best know for Don vom Rolandsteich this is a very slow maturing line some times taken 3 -5 year to show hard fight drive. So how do we pick a pup at 8 weeks old (you do not). You must imprint these pups and also know the difference between each dog. This is done by spending time with the litter. you will never see a color string on the necks of my pups i know each one. They also need to learn pack behavior. We need the breed lines
saved they bring diversity to the German Shepherd dog. I encourage breeders to save the ddr blood and to breed and raise and sell correctly. Greeting John
The DDR dogs were never known for extreme drives but balanced drives

Va salut pe toti,
Dati-mi voie sa va spun despre cainii DDR'isti. In primul rand, daca crescatorul are mai multe cuiburi in acelasi timp, nu e bine.

Yes but if you put in balance the need to save the DDR dogs against the need for language skills, guess which one is more urgent

Ex v. Reidstern was a proven producer who in my opinion was the foundation of many great DDR dogs...
Many of the popular DDR dogs in the last few decades trace back to Ex v Redstern. Even the Czechs brought in dogs who were very close on Ex..
Bojar/ Bero and also Berry Christelas if i'm not wrong, contributed and played a major part in the pz Straze kennels..
'Bene' video Dani molto bene bravo !!! See i'm learning another language... 8-)[/color]
