1- yes there are corrections in tracking training.in the learning stages you should stay by the dog.when it deviates from the track you pull the leash slowly ( not to hard) back on the track.thats why , is good that while he is small ( up to about 1 year) you dont do obedience by using mechanical actions.
by doing obedience like that, you make the dog react to those sudden corrections, and it will stop from working the track.it will either do the DOWN, or it will spin.
professional trainers, when the dog is working the track , do small intensity pullings from the leash, and so the dog learns that from one pull he shouldnt abandon the track.
i do like this with my anti-drugs dog, when it finds and scratches, i pull the leash but in the same time i praise her.and then she wont mind what happens with the leash and scratches even harder.her confidence will grow. but you should have the track very well marked, so that you dont reward other smell
2 the soil, short grass or loose ground are very good.the soil by definition represents the support for the smell particle.
moisture. moisture preserves the smell very well.the best is to do/mark the track early in the morning, when the dew is present.
the wind. in the begining is better that you dont have any wind.if you need to work in windy conditions, is better that you have the wind in your back

urma are 3 elemente de baza.
1.vatra.
2.pista
3.urma propriu zisa

english

i wanted to ask if it correct to tracce/make the track with meat soup. when i worked with the other dog, i used to do the base with soup, and i was tracing ofcourse a straight track in the begining, yet with soup and small pieces of meat on the track. is it correct what i say?

Yeah i agree cheers for the translation and the information provided regarding the training for tracking.. Its something i might consider with my next dog if it has a natural abilitiy, to save me the time as i am busy these days.. Not really sure how much time and efforts required for this kind of work, but am sure its more then protection training..

Cheers kangdanlin

Thank you Kangdalin for making the time to post both in romanian and english, I personalyy think it's very good to hear what people from other nations have to say , since the breeding of GSD's may take diferent directions in the many different nations, according to either the people's expectations or, in some cases, de political pressures.
So my big thanks to Kangdalin, Bobo, Thara and everyone else willing to post in English as well.
..and of course, Man Stopper, thank you for your input! Cheers to you!

could we post links from youtube, that refer to detection training?...clips that are with other breeds than German shepherd?...i saw some with malinois, others with german shepherds, and i am wonderring if we can discuss about those clips in here?

kangdanlin · « **Reply #26 on:** January 28, 2010, 01:41:36 PM »

in cele ce urmeaza o sa postez cateva linkuri, si v-as ruga sa va spuneti parerea despre ele

alerta activa(CG)

precum si linkul asta(labrador)

(CG) si gata cu clipurile pentru moment:))

Foarte interesant exercitiu, mai ales in detrectia de droguri, arme, etc.
