From K-9 Cop Magazine: It is with an extremely sad and heavy heart that I announce the passing of my friend and partner Nero. Nero had been battling cancer for a couple of months and he was a hard fighter. Megan Poythress and I took Nero to the beach this weekend to relax. His eyes lit up when he saw the ocean for the first time and he loved playing in the ocean.

Nero got tired after playing and we went inside to rest. He began to slow down so we decided to leave and come home. After everything was packed I picked him up to carry him to the car. While I was holding him in my arms Nero took his last breath and peacefully left this world. He was surrounded by his mom and his dad and blanketed with love.

Nero was met by his shift when we arrived home and took one final ride in his patrol vehicle with a full police escort. He did so many great things as a police K9, but he was more to that to the people who knew and loved him. He will truly missed. I love you son, rest easy now.
