Title: Hello From Chicago U.S.A.
Post by: ShepherdsByDesignK9 on December 27, 2011, 09:27:18 AM
Hello, My name is Chuck and I live in the U.S. I have met Dan ( Zimbris ) on my forum that I have here in the U.S. I currently have a kennel here in the states in which I breed the old style Czech dogs that we all have once fell in love with. Unfortunately I have seen these lines slowly disappear as the breeders out here have gotten involved in breeding sport dogs and have forgotten about the old power houses that once were. We here have worked hard to preserve the old lines which if not careful we will loose them for good. IMO you could all keep your sport dogs as I'm quite happy to have what I call the true German Shepherd.
Mods if I have posted this in the wrong area please feel free to move this thread into the right place.
L-am cunoscut pe Dan (zimbris) in forumul meu aici in State.

Welcome here too, Chuck! It will be very interesting to hear what that part of the world has to say about Czech dogs, or other GS dogs for that matter so we are looking forward to some constructive interaction!
Bine-ai venit si aici, Chuck! Va fi interesant sa auzim ce are de spus despre cainii Cehesti, zona din care vii tu, sau CG-ul in general asa ca privim cu interes catre dialoguri constructive!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I will be glad to post some of my guy's here, just not sure if you have a size limit to the photo size that is allowed. Dan you know my feeling as to the Czech type dog. Being Czech myself I just can't see having anything other than Czech or what use to be DDR dogs as we all know here in the States that the DDR dog no longer exists ( At least in the U.S. that is ). Most of my lines consist of Titus z Pohranicni Straze, Faro Policia, Car Policia, Ben Dobrovodske Lazne. Although dogs like Congo Vikar which isn't a Czech dog but often was bred to Czech female, I have a few of his off spring too. I like the bigger bone, large heads that the Czech and DDR dogs have produced and don't see myself breeding anything other than this
Multumesc pt primire.

Actually... By all means please do tell, what' your say on east dogs, what differences you see etc etc.. we are just talking about that in a different topic and it would be interesting to hear another opinion on the two major selection concepts.

Sorry about that and it has been removed.
Dan as we all know that the DDR dog was the foundation dog for the z Pohranicni Straze kennel. They had a 80% good hip rating before the wall was taken down. This is why Jiri had smuggled in these dogs to improve their breeding program. This was the time in which he cared about what he was breeding compared to today's dogs in which he sells to people here in the U.S. There are still Czech dogs I steer away from due to issues they were know to produce and although they had produced great working dogs in the past I have found dogs like Klara z Pohranicni Straze to influence bad hip production even 7-8 generations away from her.
You asked what type of temperament that I like to see in my dog? I would rather have a strong more pronounced temperament than some of these dogs I see so much today that would rather lick your face. I don't like to see these over the top drive that some here in the U.S. have been producing. What I mean by this is that I like a dog that is easily fired up when needed, but also would settle too. If I wanted a Malinois than I would own one. I find too many breeders here in the U.S. that get caught up in hip production rather than evaluating the total dog instead. IMO I feel if you limit yourself to good and excellent hip rated dogs you will soon loose what qualities the GSD once had. When breeding a dog with like fair hips, you have to stack the odds in your corner by bring this dog to an improver for hips. I myself like the type of dog one would call a man stopper, a thinker that has a brain that only the one that is close to them can approach. As you know when producing pups you always find pups that will work in different venues. Although my pups produced have worked in many venues there are still some that go to homes also.
Sorry for posting in English, but once my translator tool begins to work again I have no choice but to post in the language that I know most of. Also is there a picture size in which is limited here or does your program here adjust them as they are posted?

Also, notice that it's better if you upload them on a site like Photobucket an put the link in here than uploading them directly from your computer, because if anything goes wrong with the server, we will lose all the pics uploaded from computer. It happened before, quite recent actually.

Cred ca multi crescatori se opresc in faza "solduri" cand analizeaza cainele in loc sa analizeze pachetul complet.

thank you for your replies, believe me I look forward to seeing some of your dogs here. You will be seeing dogs from Czech lines here too so make sure you visit the "my dog" topic from time to time. In January I will make some videos of dogs such as Remus who's blood I know you appreciate. Still, it would be one different experience to see Remus in real life. Say, do you work your dogs in obedience and protection?.. well, I guess it's the protection part I am really interested in

Wrong dog, Some of those pictures on that site are not correct, Although Car was black he didn't have the size of his sire Titus z Pohranicni Straze. The video's I have are saved on my computer. If you go to my page on facebook Shepherds By Design K-9 you will find the ones of Ben there. He was suppose to be a 5 time consecutive champion in the protection trials in Slovakia before we had purchased him from Eurosport K-9 in 2004. Ben passed away in 2010, just 2 weeks shy of his 11th birthday

Dan this is My Narys Policia Slovakia son Ghost Von Hausmeyer. He is now 8 years old and has turned heads ever since I have brought him here to our place. A few years later I was very lucky to bring in his sire Narys which just turned 11 years old in November. Narys even at that age is still the strongest male I have ever owned
