Uzi era un mascul mare, gros, spate drept, nu cu cine stie ce drive dar f bun in paza reala. Provenea de la o baza militara din Suceava, la varsta de 7 luni era deja mai inalt cu 2 degete decat Ben.
Uzi a apartinut categoriei de caini pe care eu o numesc "scoala veche". S-a stins la sfarsitul lui 2007.
This Uzi, together with Ben they have done a great job protecting the yard of o company for a good few years. These shots were taken 10 years ago (2000) shortly after Uzi was undergoing surgery (hit by car). This was recovering stuff, consisting of walks and swimming, as the vet indicated. Uzi was a very social dog but also a very attentive watch dog.. after all he had a great "mentor" (Ben).
Uzi was a large, think dog, with straight back, didn't have much drive but was very real in his protection. Came from a miltary base in Suceava and by the age of 7 months he was already bigger than Ben.
Uzi belonged to the type I call "the old school". He died at the end of 2007.

Un rond de noapte cu Uzi. Cainele asta nu inchidea un ochi noaptea si isi facea treaba bine, f vigilent si galagios imediat cum trecea careva pe langa gard / poarta. De-alungul a aprox 6 ani impreuna cu Ben au facut o treaba super (filmarea e facuta cam la un an dupa 'plecarea' lui Ben); zona respectiva se afla pe soseaua de centura a Constantei unde pe atunci se umblau multi hoti de piese de masina. Pe langa paza curtii se mai efectua si o "tura" in interior, cladirea avand ferestre care dadeau intr-o alta curte si deci prezentau puncte de acces.
Did another search in my archive and came across this one too...
Night patrol with Uzi. The dog performed well all night long, was very vigilant and quick to bark as soon as someone was passing by. Together with Ben they guarded this property for about 6 years (this video was taken about one year after Ben died); this company was located by the belt road on the city and at that time there were a lot of car parts thieves. As well as the yard the dogs had to search the indoors as the building had some windows on the opposite end which led to a different yard and therefor were building access points.

Dux i-a stiut si pe Ben si pe Uzi si va poate spune si el ce caini erau.
Dux knew both Ben and Uzi and can confirm they were good dogs.

cum se poate si vedea in clip, Uzi avea un raport bun de instincte necesar pt un caine de paza, nu era interesat de manson.
..a little bit of bite work..
as you can see in the clip, Uzi was a good drive mix, civil and not interested in the sleeve.

With a head like that, I wouldn't be surprised to find out Uzi had DDR blood. The shots below remind me of that of Charly Trafalga.

Am fost super suparat cand am aflat abia acum un an de moartea lui Uzi, cei de la firma m-au anuntat abia dupa 1 an si ceva, nici macar nu s-au gandit sa ma anunte ca nu statea prea bine cu sanatatea.. il luam la mine.. in fine, trecutul e trecut.

Uzi parea sa aiba un psihic puternic, chiar si in urma unui accident.. Inca isi poarta coada sus si are acea atitudine pe care o vedeam la caini prin anii 80.. Ma bucur sa vad clipurile astea, care iti vor aduce aminte de timpuri bune, in viitor..
Dani iti voi trimite niste poze cu cainele meu Rommels, arata cam la fel ca Uzi si avea cam acelasi comportament cand era vorba de paza, mama lui Rommels a fost folosita la penitenciar atat pt lucru cat si pt crestere..

Uzi seems mentally very strong, even after a car accident.. He still shows high tail carriage and has that attitude i also recall in th mid 80's..Good to see you got some footage, which will bring back good memories for you in the distant future..

Yes Uzi was a "calm" dog but very serious at any point he saw a threat coming. Both Uzi and Ada learned a lot from Ben through imitation. Also, although Uzi was tall thick and heavy, he could still climb up pretty decent hights.
Ben and Uzi as a team, guarded that property very well, 2 individuals ended up hospitalized (the night watch guy stepped in just in time)

yes.. I think somehow the more traditional black and tan GSD's will always appeal to a larger mass.. as soon as you say GSD you think of black and tan.. I think... ;)

in perioada de convalescenta l-am dus pe Uzi la parinti acasa, la bloc, sa il supraveghez non stop. Seara cand era mai racoare ieseam in fatza blocului. Era imediat dupa operatie, la vreo 3 sau 4 zile, deci avea tija pusa. El de felul lui era un fel de "urias tacut", calm si cu o privire relativ balnda pe fatza. Se mai adunasera cativa vecini iar Uzi era socializat bine si nu a schitzat nimic. Unul din vecini, mai tinerel, bause ceva si cand a venit spre mine s-a impiedicat si era cat pe ce sa cada la vreo.. 2 m de mine, moment in care Uzi s-a ridicat si a marait gros de a inghetzat baiatu'.. m-a rugat sa am grija
Ce vreau sa subliniez - tipul DDRist de caine, mai calm, tacut, dar cu inst de lupta si aparare f dezvoltate. Tind sa cred ca Uzi avea astfel de sange...a 'pretty' story
while uzi was recovering, shortly after the first surgery, I took him to my parents house so I can watch him closely all the time and monitor changes. In the evenings we were going downstairs to enjoy the cool breeze and some neighbors were gathering for a chat. One night one of them, a younger one, drank a bit and stumbled nearly falling towards me, in which moment Uzi turned from a calm gentle dog into a beast, stood up with a very serious look on his face and very low pitch growl.. my neighbor froze and asked me to make sure the dog doesn't get him. What I'm trying to underline - the DDR like behavior, calm and gentle but with very sharp defense and fight drives. I am tempted to believe Uzi had plenty DDR blod..

Frumoase poze, frumoase amintiri! :)da.. voi avea amintiri super legate de pozele astea.. cele de la plaja le-am facut cu cateva zile de incorporare, sa le am la mine in unitate, iar cea cu fesul ala 'frumos' la doar o ora dupa depunerea juramantului :D
