Title: First Timers
Post by: Man Stopper on January 20, 2010, 06:25:32 AM
Any ideas on how to mate 2 dogs who have never mated before, to make it a enjoyable experience and not some kind of never ending foreplay session especially that my male is 8 yo and angry and frustrated as it is <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" />

Well the perfect situation would be to let tham share the same space for a while and allow for things to follow their natural course. But then again, if time goes by and nothing happens, then yes, you have to do some 'assisting'.

Was thinking of making the bitch tired, make it easy for Onyx and not to much chasing.. Although there is a saying that the chase is better than the catch if you know what i mean...

you could walk them together, and after they become relaxed by walking let the dog smell the bitch...i think is better this way

Has iris had puppies in the past? And if she did, have you had your chance to see them?

No she has not, but two of her litter sisters have both had accidental matings and i seen a litter 2 weeks ago. This particular accidental mating was with a show male with NO working stock what so ever.. The pups had medium prey drive, but i must admit they had a very nice classic DARK Blk/tan about them similar to the ones in the 70's 80's - Top Expression and very GSD like.. Its just nice to see GSD with a nice thick coat and dark BLK/Tan Mask on the Head and more black on body.. This added with some form of natural aggression and suspicion, i feel is all thats needed for the average GSD enthusiast.. Especially here in the state of Victoria ( Australia) the government is ridiculous with NO protection training permitted, unless your with the Police... This rule came out after a few seperate vicious dog attacks and so on, so it's pointless for me to breed over the top prey / defensive dogs for a the public.. So with Iris i can expect stable not so noisey but territorial, really impressive expressive looking dogs, with just a touch of Onyx added for extra measure..
